Whether you can use OKX in Korea cannot be determined by app access alone. Check domestic regulations and registration status, your residence and account eligibility, and restrictions on individual products separately. The regional section of OKX’s official risk and compliance disclosures states that services related to derivatives and P2P may be restricted in Korea. Seeing a menu or passing KYC does not guarantee that use in Korea is lawful or that you are eligible for every product. OKX Official Risk and Compliance Disclosures (displayed last updated: 2026-07-08; AKEYX checked: 2026-10-23).
On October 13, 2026, the Financial Services Commission and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) announced a decision to block domestic access to the websites of unregistered virtual asset service providers. This provides a basis for the domestic regulatory checks and asset recovery risks described below; this article does not confirm whether OKX is currently registered or whether it is included in the list of 27 businesses. Before using the service, check the FIU’s latest registration status and restriction notices from both platforms. If anything is unclear, do not proceed with trading or deposits. We do not provide instructions for bypassing restrictions using a VPN, another identity, or an alternative account. Official FSC and FIU announcement (announced 2026-10-13; checked 2026-10-23).
Five things Korean users should distinguish first
| Item to check | Where to check and limits of what you can determine |
|---|---|
| Domestic regulations and registration status | The FIU’s latest registration status and FSC and FIU notices. Successful access to a website or overseas authorization does not substitute for domestic registration approval. |
| App and web access | Official distribution channels and current app store listings. Past availability lists cannot guarantee current installation or updates through the Korean app store. |
| Account and KYC | Actual residence, nationality, and verification requirements. Passing KYC does not substitute for authorization to use individual products or a determination under domestic law. |
| Spot, derivatives, and P2P | The latest terms, regional disclosures, and account-specific notices. Check the possibility of restrictions on derivatives and P2P in Korea; do not assume that a product is permitted merely because it appears in a menu. |
| Deposits and withdrawals | First check whether both platforms permit transfers to and from the other business, and verify Travel Rule and name-matching requirements. Then compare the asset, network, Memo/Tag, limits, and fees. |
South Korea still appears in OKX’s iOS app availability information, but the page shows a last-updated date of 2025-05-22. This list does not prove that installation or updates are currently available in Korea, nor does it establish domestic registration status. Sections 2.1 and 2.2 of the Terms of Use (updated 2026-10-22) also set out eligibility requirements and the possibility of changes to services by region. Check with official customer support for the terms that apply to your current account and residence.
How should I interpret the notice about domestic access blocking?
The FSC and FIU announcement of 2026-10-13 describes the decision to block domestic access to the websites of 27 unregistered businesses. It does not mean that all blocks took effect at the same time, nor does it mean that OKX is included in the list. You should also distinguish between determining whether an overseas business serving Korean residents is required to register and making a legal assessment based on an individual user’s circumstances. Do not conclude that use is lawful in Korea based only on overseas authorization or a Korean-language menu.
The same announcement warns about the limits of oversight and asset protection for unregistered businesses, as well as the possibility of restrictions on trading and transfers. Check the latest notices to see whether your domestic exchange permits transfers to the other business. If you have an issue with assets held or access restrictions, first check the official return or recovery procedures and customer support guidance. Successful asset recovery and processing times cannot be guaranteed. Do not provide your password, verification codes, or recovery phrase to third parties offering to withdraw assets on your behalf.
Why you should not use a VPN to bypass regional restrictions
Using a VPN and using one to deceive the service and bypass regional restrictions are different things. This article does not explain how to use a VPN to hide your country of residence or access restricted products. OKX states that login, trading, and deposits or withdrawals may be restricted due to unusual activity, requests for additional information, periodic compliance reviews, or violations of the terms. What actions are permitted during a restriction and the outcome of a review vary by case, so it cannot be stated categorically that “withdrawals are always possible” or “contacting support will definitely remove the restriction.” Official account restriction notice (updated 2026-10-16; checked 2026-10-23).
- Enter your country of residence and nationality truthfully.
- Do not evade restrictions by using someone else’s ID, duplicate accounts, another person’s name, or a KYC transfer.
- Do not assume that a product is available if it does not appear in your account.
- If you receive a restriction notice, follow the instructions sent to your registered email, in the Ticket Center, and through official customer support.

How to prepare for KYC and reduce the chance of rejection

OKX Individual Account Verification Guide (updated 2026-08-25) requires identity verification for KYC. Enter the requested information accurately, including your actual country of residence, nationality, and name, and check which supporting documents are accepted in your region. The instructions direct users to Verification in the profile on the website, or Menu → Account settings → Identity verification in the app, though the display may vary by version and account. Prepare a valid government-issued ID and a clear selfie if requested. Submit proof of address only if your account requires it. Screenshots, expired documents, cropped edges, and glare may result in rejection.
For detailed preparation requirements and reasons for rejection, see OKX KYC Detailed Guide. If you already have an account verified with your own information or need to correct your information, do not try to resolve the issue by creating a new account or using another person’s name; contact official customer support. Submit KYC documents only through a verified official submission channel, and do not interpret completed verification as approval to use services in your region.
Key points for deposits and withdrawals to and from Korean exchanges

- First check domestic regulations and restriction notices, as well as whether both exchanges permit transfers to and from the other platform. Do not transfer if the route is unclear or prohibited.
- Check Travel Rule and name-matching requirements, as well as any required information about the sender, recipient, and platform. The information provided must match the facts.
- Even for permitted transfers, verify that the coin and the networks supported by both platforms match exactly. Also check any required Memo/Tag.
- On the relevant deposit or withdrawal screen, check for current suspensions or maintenance, minimum and maximum amounts, and network fees.
- Double-check the address and any required identifying information. Even when the network matches, a deposit may be rejected or held due to restrictions on the other business or a review.
- Consider a small test transfer only after confirming that the transfer is permitted and that all requirements are met. Do not use small or split transfers to bypass regulations or reviews, and note that a successful test does not guarantee that subsequent transfers will be accepted.
Fees and minimum amounts vary by coin, network, and time, so do not rely on fixed figures from the past. Step-by-step instructions are available in OKX Deposit and Withdrawal Guide.
Check futures trading and fee discounts separately
First check the possibility of restrictions on derivatives and P2P in Korea, and bear in mind that a menu listing or general help article does not constitute permission for you to use the service. You should separately review the product’s risk and suitability requirements, and only use it if permitted under the regulations in your jurisdiction and your account eligibility. OKX Beginner’s Guide to Futures Trading is a reference that explains USDT perpetual futures, leverage, and liquidation mechanics; it does not guarantee that Korean residents are eligible to use these products.
Fee benefits from partner code OKDCC are not guaranteed to be the same for every account. Linking a code or seeing a benefit does not create an exception to regional restrictions, KYC requirements, or domestic regulations. Before signing up, check the eligible users, period, eligible trades, and actual terms shown. If you already have an account, check the My Rewards information for that account and contact official support to confirm whether the benefits apply. This article does not guarantee a specific discount rate or encourage new registrations or deposits. For detailed verification steps, see OKX Referral Code Verification Guide.

Checklist before use or deposit
- I checked the FIU’s latest registration status, domestic notices, and regulations applicable to my actual residence.
- I checked regional product disclosures and account notices, and will not judge whether use is permitted based only on a menu listing or KYC.
- I prepared valid KYC documents in my own name.
- I first checked whether transfers to and from the other platform are permitted, then verified the network, address, Memo/Tag, and Travel Rule requirements.
- OKDCC and other codes or benefits do not lift regional restrictions, and I will not assume they apply if I cannot confirm the terms.
- I will complete security settings such as 2FA, passkeys, and withdrawal address books before trading.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Can I install the OKX app in Korea?
A. South Korea appears in the official iOS availability information marked as updated 2025-05-22, but this alone cannot guarantee that the app can currently be installed or updated through the Korean app store. Check domestic notices and current official distribution channels. App access is separate from domestic regulations and product eligibility.
Q. Can I trade OKX futures in Korea?
A. OKX’s official risk and compliance notices state that services related to derivatives and P2P may be restricted in Korea. You should separately check domestic regulations, the latest terms applicable to your place of residence, and any account-specific notices. Do not assume that a service is permitted just because its menu is visible.
Q. Can I access restricted products by using a VPN?
A. We do not provide instructions for circumventing regional restrictions. Keep your actual residence and identity information accurate, and follow restriction notices and official customer support guidance. Eligibility for review, removal of restrictions, or withdrawals depends on the specific restriction.
Q. Can I deposit directly from a domestic exchange to OKX?
A. Do not transfer solely because both platforms support the same coin and network. First check domestic regulations, whether both platforms permit transfers involving the other service provider, and Travel Rule and account-name requirements. If anything is unclear, stop the transfer. A small test transfer does not make a prohibited transfer permissible.
Q. Do OKDCC benefits remove regional restrictions?
A. No. Linking a code or displaying benefits does not change domestic regulations or the regional eligibility of an account or product. Check the eligible users, period, qualifying transactions, and actual terms of application separately. This article does not guarantee a specific discount rate or eligibility for all users in Korea.
