OKX Signal Bot Setup 2026: TradingView Webhooks, Alert Errors and Futures Risk

The OKX Signal Bot connects TradingView strategy or indicator alerts to orders in eligible OKX perpetual futures contracts. Test the alert and resulting order in Demo Trading first, then verify the pair, leverage, margin, order size and exit settings before considering live trading. OKX’s current FAQ says the bot does not support spot trading. Availability can vary by account and region.

Signal Bot versus Spot Grid and DCA

Spot Grid and Spot DCA place spot orders according to their own settings. Signal Bot instead reacts to an external alert and can submit an order for a selected perpetual futures contract. A grid’s price range is not the same as a TradingView alert condition. For a spot bot, see the OKX Spot Grid guide.

Item Check before enabling Possible failure
Environment Match Demo or Live mode to the webhook URL Signal sent to the wrong environment
Contract Select a supported perpetual pair Instrument rejected or filtered
Alert Check the condition, message and signalToken No signal or unintended order
Risk Check margin, leverage, size and TP/SL Excessive exposure or liquidation

An alert firing is not proof that an order was filled. Compare the TradingView Alerts Log, OKX Events History, open orders and final position.

How to set up the OKX Signal Bot

  1. In an eligible OKX account, go to Trade → Trading Bots → Marketplace → Signal Bot → Create and add a custom signal. The interface may differ by region or version.
  2. Use the webhook URL and alert-message specification shown by OKX. Choose the TradingView method for strategy.*() scripts and the Custom method for indicator or chart alerts. Do not paste an untested example directly into a live bot.
  3. In TradingView, choose the intended perpetual contract, alert condition and message. Copy the webhook URL and message from your own OKX signal setup. Keep the signalToken private; do not post it in an article, screenshot or code repository.
  4. Create the bot with the intended trading pairs, leverage and margin. Verify order size, order type, take-profit and stop-loss. A signal for a pair not selected in the bot may be filtered.
  5. Send a small test alert in OKX Demo Trading. Compare the alert, Events History and actual order or position. Demo results do not predict live execution.

OKX’s FAQ gives different webhook URLs for Demo and Live Trading. Copy the address from the correct OKX environment rather than typing it from memory. A conventional OKX API key is a separate workflow; never insert an account API key or password into a TradingView alert.

Order size and a simple loss example

For illustration, 100 USDT of margin at 2× leverage is about 200 USDT of notional exposure. A 5% adverse price move could imply roughly 10 USDT of loss before costs (200 × 0.05 = 10). Actual P&L and liquidation depend on contract size, maintenance margin, fees, funding, slippage and mark price. Check the order panel’s estimated liquidation price and the OKX futures risk guide.

TP/SL does not guarantee a loss limit. Fast markets, poor liquidity and delayed alerts can produce late or different fills. According to OKX’s setup guide, stopping this bot closes its open positions and cancels its pending orders. Check positions and possible fees before stopping it.

Troubleshooting missing signals or orders

  1. Check TradingView’s Alerts Log to see whether the alert fired.
  2. Open the bot’s Events History in OKX. If there is no matching event, check the Demo/Live webhook URL and signalToken.
  3. If an event exists but no order was placed, read the event error and check message format, instrument, selected pair and minimum order size.
  4. A maxLag error means the alert exceeded its permitted delay. Investigate delay and duplicate-signal risk before merely extending the limit.
  5. After any alert, confirm the resulting position direction and size, open orders and TP/SL. Do not treat an alert log as a fill confirmation.

The official FAQ uses error 51000 as an example of an invalid instrument format. Verify the current contract list and official alert-message specification; do not assume that one ticker format works for every contract.

Security and risk checklist

  • □ Is Signal Bot and this perpetual contract available to my account and region?
  • □ Do the Demo/Live mode, webhook URL and chosen pair match?
  • □ Is the signalToken kept private and shared only where necessary?
  • □ Have I checked order size, maximum margin exposure, leverage, TP/SL and estimated liquidation price?
  • □ Have I compared TradingView alerts, OKX Events History and actual fills?
  • □ Do I understand that stopping the bot may close positions and cancel pending orders?

Risk warning: Automation does not guarantee profit or execution. Perpetual futures involve leverage, funding costs, slippage, signal errors and delays. Liquidation and loss of the entire margin are possible. This is an educational guide, not investment advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does OKX Signal Bot support spot trading?

The OKX FAQ checked on 26 September 2026 says it supports perpetual contracts, not spot trading. Verify current product availability in your own account.

TradingView fired an alert but there is no order. What should I check?

Check the TradingView Alerts Log, then OKX Events History. Compare the webhook URL, signalToken, instrument format, chosen pair and minimum order size.

Are the Demo and Live webhook URLs identical?

No. OKX explicitly lists separate addresses. Copy the address from the signal setup screen in the correct environment.

What happens to open positions when I stop the bot?

OKX’s setup guide says stopping the bot closes its open positions and cancels its pending orders. Review possible execution and fee effects first.

Should I put my API key in a TradingView alert?

No. The workflow described here uses the webhook URL and signalToken supplied by OKX Signal Bot. Never include your account API key or password in an alert message.
